Susan is a novelist, a literary and cultural critic, translator of Hélène Cixous and editor of Virginia Woolf. Her award-winning fiction has been widely translated and her non-fiction includes studies of feminism, gender and women’s literary history. She has also published collections on the art of writing. She was the first woman to be made a Professor in the fields of Literature in English and Creative Writing at St Andrews University in Scotland. She has held residencies and lectured around the world and is a regular broadcaster.
